Dental Implants in Cumberland County
Expert & experienced Dental Implant treatment
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is attached to a crown, dental bridge or denture. It is the most predictable and stable treatment for replacing missing teeth or teeth that have to be extracted. Implants are also the closest thing to natural teeth, functioning and looking very much like them.
With modern advancements in implantology, Dr. Greenberg is able to help most of his patients with missing teeth enjoy the benefits of dental implants.
Specialist training and experience
Periodontists specialize in the bone and gum surrounding the teeth. Part of their intensive specialist training (three years post dental school) is in the placement of dental implants. Dr. Greenberg has additionally completed extensive post-graduate education in dental implants, keeping up-to-date with all the latest developments.
An educator himself, Dr. Greenberg has taught implantology at Columbia University, Department of Periodontics; New York University, Department of Periodontics; and Beth Israel Medical Center, Department of Dentistry.
Throughout his career, Dr. Greenberg has been dedicated to acquiring the latest knowledge and techniques in periodontics and dental implants. He has assembled state-of-the-art equipment to provide accurate, comfortable and minimally invasive implant treatment.

State-of-the-art, minimally invasive Implant treatment
Tomographic technology has enabled Dr. Greenberg to precisely plan dental implant treatment ahead of time. Instead of having to cut into the gum and bone to establish the right position for the implant, the position is predetermined and the surgery becomes minimally invasive.
Other technological breakthroughs add to the accuracy, efficiency and comfort of our implant treatment.
Detailed imaging with our high-tech scanning system
Our cone beam 3D CT scanner takes a series of X-ray images in a 360 degree circle around your head and creates detailed 3D images of the jaw and mouth area. From these images Dr. Greenberg can assess the volume and density of the bone and see the exact position of the sinuses, nerves, and blood vessels. He uses this information to precisely plan your implant placement ahead of time.
The key to dental implant success is the correct placement of the implant tooth root. The precise location and angle of placement are critical to how your implant will look and function. In addition, certain nerves and other internal structures need to be found and avoided. Our cone beam 3D CT scanner provides a comprehensive 3D view of the entire mouth and jaw and gives Dr. Greenberg the data he needs to place your implants at the proper location and angle.
Microscope for precision surgery
Dr. Greenberg’s high-magnification microscope gives him a clear, detailed view of your mouth during surgery. This is especially useful during bone grafting procedures.
Ultrasonic Instrumentation and Dental Lasers for less trauma and faster healing
Dr. Greenberg uses a Piezosurgery unit to perform procedures such as sinus augmentation to provide bone for implant placement. Piezosurgery uses gentle ultrasonic vibrations which precisely cut bone but don’t penetrate soft tissue. The incisions are less invasive and produce less tissue damage, resulting in better healing.
On occasion Dr. Greenberg will also use a soft-tissue laser to speed coagulation of incisions and to improve healing.
Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF)
Dr. Greenberg centrifuges a small amount of a patient’s blood to isolate the growth factors. If a bone graft is needed, he ads these growth factors to the bone graft, which measurably speeds healing.
New Teeth in the same day
In cases where there is sufficient volume of bone available, such as immediately after extraction, Dr. Greenberg can place an implant and a new tooth or teeth on the same day. This is usually a temporary restoration, but functional nevertheless.
Whether you get a dental implant on the same day as extraction or later, Dr. Greenberg makes sure that you have a temporary tooth or teeth to replace your front teeth so your smile remains intact!
New Teeth in One Day with RevitaliZe™ and the All-on-4® treatment concept
Dr. Greenberg can replace full arches of teeth with new, functional teeth in one day. The procedure uses specially tapered implants that are placed in the bone at precise angles to provide maximum bone integration and support. This means that patients with bone loss in their jawbone can get implants without needing bone grafting, as the procedure makes the best use of available bone.
Dr. Greenberg can extract teeth, as necessary, place four implants per arch, and immediately place your new teeth. These teeth are immediately functional. When the dental implants have fully integrated into the bone, in 3-4 months, the final, permanent restoration is placed.
To save or not to save?
We will always do our utmost to save your teeth. In some cases teeth can’t be saved, or it is better to extract them and replace them with dental implants. Teeth that are in really bad condition are usually too weak to recover properly despite treatment, and can be extremely costly to treat.
Take for example, a tooth that has decay, periodontal disease and is fractured. There can be up to four extensive procedures done on such a tooth in an attempt to save it. Yet, at the end of treatment, the tooth is still weak and liable to further decay and eventual loss. In this case, it is better to extract the tooth and replace it with an implant.
Extractions and implant procedure
In many cases, Dr. Greenberg can extract the broken-down tooth or teeth, place implants and a new temporary tooth or teeth, all in the same day.
If the bone around the extracted tooth site has insufficient volume of bone to support the implant, Dr. Greenberg will use bone grafting to augment the bone.
Dr. Greenberg’s years of training and experience make his extractions and implant placement gentle, painless and efficient procedures.
Dental implants provide a far more natural oral experience than either dentures or dental bridges. Dental bridges require cutting down of adjacent teeth, and dentures have many issues that make them an unpleasant alternative.
Dr. Greenberg can treat most patients who have missing teeth using dental implants. And as a result of detailed planning using our 3D diagnostics and imaging software, the implant placement is efficient and minimally invasive.
Bone Grafting and Sinus Lifts
Where the volume of bone is inadequate to fully support a dental implant, Dr. Greenberg places a bone graft of donor tissue. This graft stimulates your own bone to grow.
In some cases Dr. Greenberg places the bone graft at the same time as the implant, and in cases where greater volume is needed, he will place the implant once your bone has regenerated.
He will perform sinus lifts to augment the bone in the area where the upper back teeth were. He lifts the sinus cavity by filing it with bone graft.
Keeping you comfortable
Our minimally invasive methods make your treatment as comfortable and efficient as possible. We also take the time to explain procedures ahead of time, address any concerns you have and answer any questions.
Dr. Greenberg uses The Wand® computerized anesthesia delivery system to ensure the adequate amount of anesthesia for pain-free treatment. He gives patients a pain pill before treatment to reduce post-treatment swelling and pain, and a prescription for pain relievers after treatment. If you have any issues, Dr. Greenberg is available 24/7 on his cell phone. Patients who are very anxious can request oral sedation.
Your natural-looking, beautiful new teeth
Dr. Greenberg partners with top cosmetic and restorative dentists to create your new tooth or teeth. He makes sure that your implants are properly placed so that your new teeth sit correctly and your bite is completely comfortable. He works with his partner dentist to ensure your teeth are natural-looking and enhance your appearance. In many cases, our partner dentist will come to the office to give you a separate consultation on the creation of your final teeth.
